Barry Ferguson shares Rangers ‘interrogation’ amid Giovanni van Bronckhorst sack ‘speculation’
Barry Ferguson has revealed he is being interrogated by Rangers fans to reveal any information he may have on Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s future at Ibrox.
The Light Blues have gone into radio silence of late, with there being little to suggest the Dutchman will be relieved from his duties.
Ferguson believes that “no news” is “good news” for the 47-year-old, who has seen the pressure significantly rise in recent weeks.

“I’ve spoken previously about the lack of communication coming out of the club but the current silence over the manager’s job security appears to suggest no news is good news for Gio,” said Ferguson (Daily Record, 18 November).
“The fans are being left to make presumptions that if there was to be a change then it would have happened by now but again it’s a guessing game so who knows?
“Speculation won’t end until a statement is made which confirms the board are backing their man or have decided to have a parting of the ways.
“I am being asked the question all the time, trips to the petrol station or the shops have become an interrogation at times, fans asking me if Gio’s going to be replaced.”
Missed chance
If the Ibrox board do decide to stick by van Bronckhorst then it’s a massive opportunity missed. The Word Cup break feels like the ideal time for a change to be made, and for a new manager to come in and have time with the players before the Scottish Premiership restarts in December.

The Dutchman’s race is run, with this group of players losing complete faith in his methods of late. The draw to St Mirren and defeat to St Johnstone should have been the end for van Bronckhorst. We all know the Gers weren’t backed in the summer by the board, but nonetheless, the Light Blues should always be beating the lesser teams on the domestic front.
If Rangers do stick by the Dutchman, which now seems likely, he simply has to put a perfect run of form together before his side face Celtic at the start of January. The Gers will have to beat The Hoops at least twice in the remainder of the season if they want to harbour any hopes of regaining the Scottish Premiership title.
