Rangers close to agreement to play Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox in World Cup break

Rangers are locked in talks to organise a friendly against Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen during the World Cup break, according to Four Lads Had A Dream.

The official club partner has shared that an agreement is nearly in place for the 10th of December, with both sides set to meet at Ibrox Stadium.

Leverkusen and the Bears are familiar foes in recent years, with the two matching up against each other in the Europa League more than once.

Writing on their official Twitter account late on Friday 4th November, Four Lads shared the latest news coming from Govan as we rapidly approach the break.

“Rangers set to play Leverkusen on December the 10th at Ibrox in a warm-up before resuming from World Cup break,” they wrote.

“This is not confirmed yet but both teams close to finalising.”

Smart.

This is exactly the type of challenge that this squad will need.

Bayer Leverkusen may not be going through the best of times in Germany with Xabi Alonso coming in recently to take charge, but they still have quality in abundance.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is hoping to remain in charge for the World Cup break and beyond, although it currently very much depends on how these three games go before.

Three wins out of three against St Johnstone, Hearts and St Mirren and no one will bat an eyelid at the pressure said to be surrounding the Dutchman.

But, just one defeat in there and these big questions will come to the forefront once more, with the World Cup break potentially the perfect time to change manager.

It would give any potential new face the time to work with the squad at Auchenhowie and assess their options in this game and potentially more.

All eyes are on Ibrox ahead of this one, with big changes possible.
