Former Ajax striker Theo Janssen slams Rangers for life-threatening Ibrox pitch
Former Ajax striker Theo Janssen has put Rangers on blast for the poor pitch service at Ibrox after defender Owen Wijndal suffered an injury on Tuesday evening.
It was another torrid evening for Rangers and everyone will be happy to put this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign under the carpet.
Janssen was outraged by the “life-threatening” Ibrox pitch service that he believes was the reason behind Ajax defender Wijndal’s injury.

“That is very normal in England and Scotland: those fields all drain unbelievably. It is good for the fields because the water drains better, but it is life-threatening for a player,” he told Ziggo Sports as quoted by the Daily Record.
Full-back Wijndal limped off the Ibrox service having slid and clashed with an advertising board, the Netherlands international had been in a foot race with Fashion Sakala.

Wake-up.
This season’s dismal UEFA Champions League showing from the Old Firm must be a wake-up call for everyone in Scotland.
Never have Scottish Premiership teams looked so far off the standards than now and unfortunately it won’t be changing any time soon.
There is an unfathomable difference in money earned from TV rights deals in Scotland compared to other countries like England.
Until this changes, it’s hard to see Rangers standing any chance in Europe’s top club competition unless some form of miracle coach comes along.
It didn’t help that Gers were being pitted in Group A amongst some of the continent’s best sides, Napoli and Liverpool were never really expected to be beaten.
But it was the fashion in which the light Blues went about their business which was the most disappointing takeaway from this season’s tournament.
Being named as the worst-performing Champions League side ever is a title no team wants, things must change soon.
