Ally McCoist delivers Celtic Champions League jab in defence of Rangers

Ally McCoist delivered a red-hot jab to the face of Celtic after a fan chose to mock Rangers Champions League campaign on TalkSport.

It’s been a torrid time for Scottish clubs in the competition this year with both Rangers and Celtic already crashing out in the group stage.

McCoist funnily responded to an apparent Celtic fan who wished Rangers “good luck” on becoming the worst team ever in the Champions League.

TalkSport host Laura Woods read out the message from the fan to McCoist from “Agent 117” which said: “Good luck to Rangers tonight as they look to become the worst team ever in the Champions League,” as quoted by Football Scotland.

McCoist didn’t approve and hit back with his own jibe at Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic.

“I wonder who 117 supports, probably another team who hasn’t won in the Champions League this season.

Woods asked: “Celtic?”

And McCoist cheekily replied to say: “Yes.”

Rangers

Redemption.

Rangers and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have a shot at redemption on Tuesday evening when they face Ajax in their final Champions League game.

Gers should give everything they can to avoid being awarded the competition’s dreaded wooden spoon.

It would be nice to end the European campaign with more points than Celtic, something that would give fans plenty of ammo in the coming months.

It will be tough, however, against a solid Ajax outfit, especially when you consider Rangers’ current injury crisis, which is wreaking havoc on the squad.

The team will at least have the full support of their 12th man in Ibrox and in front of the home crowd anything is possible.

John Lundstram may be the Gers’ biggest miss on the evening, he is suspended for the fixture but also didn’t appear to be in training yesterday.

Fans were given a glimpse at the club’s potential future midfield three at the weekend which comprised of Lundstram, James Sands and Malik Tillman.

It’s a shame the midfield three won’t get a chance to push on from their impressive display against Aberdeen in Tuesday’s Ajax game.

In other Rangers news, John Hartson has lashed out amid a “Shocking” recent controversy involving the Daily Record & Craig Moore.
