Charlie Nicholas delivers Giovanni van Bronckhorst sack verdict ahead of Rangers Champions League clash
Charlie Nicholas has delivered his Giovanni van Bronckhorst sack verdict ahead of Rangers Champions League clash against Ajax on Tuesday 1st November.
The former Celtic man simply points to the Dutchman’s recent league record at Ibrox as enough evidence to suggest he’s the right man for the job.
Nicholas confessed that he believes it’s “madness” that fans are calling for Van Bronckhorst’s head already and reckons he still has plenty of credit left in the bank.

“A lot of the Rangers fans are shouting for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s head but why? There have been a lot of grumblings about the Champions League campaign and the manner of those defeats,” he said as quoted by the Scottish Daily Express.
“I get that but realistically did many Rangers fans expect their side to do any better than their team has? It was an achievement actually getting Rangers through the play-off rounds and into the group stages.
“Domestically, they have also won six and drawn one in their last seven. I just think it is madness that people are even talking about the manager’s future at this stage. Even if people were to wait until the World Cup to see where Rangers are.
“I still think Giovanni deserves more time and has credit in the bank from what he has done in his time at Ibrox.”

Injuries.
Rangers growing injury list is set to cause the club further heartache. Van Bronckhorst’s backline is becoming more depleted by the day and it’s something that will cost Gers this season.
Ben Davies continues to hit niggles along his road to becoming a starter for the club and now van Bronckhorst has been forced to change tactics.
John Lundstram will be suspended for Tuesday evening’s game against Ajax placing further pressure on whoever will come in to replace the mainstay.
Ridvan Yilmaz also wasn’t seen in training yesterday, plunging Rangers’ hopes at any Champions League redemption into further doubt.
Lundstram is arguably Rangers’ biggest miss on recent outings, however, James Sands’ terrific performance at the weekend provides some hope he can do a job wherever he’s needed.
It’s going to be interesting to see who Van Bronckhorst opts to start in this must-win clash, expect a change of formation and tactics and hopefully some long-awaited points on the board.
