Kieran Maguire shares makes Rangers and Celtic stadium-sharing admission after what Graeme Souness said

Kieran Maguire has laughed off suggestions that Rangers and Celtic would ever agree to sharing a stadium in order to become a Premier League club.

Graeme Souness admitted in his Daily Mail column on 29 October, that they would establish themselves as Premier League regulars if they shared a 100,000-seater stadium.

Maguire, an expert on all things football finance, does not see either set of the fanbase ever agreeing to such a thing.

Via Twitter, he wrote, “Graham Souness has been sniffing something. Can’t see either Rangers or Celtic fans wanting to give up their own stadiums for a shared one. Equally cannot see Premier League wanting either club to join given only 4 Champions League places available.”

Never happening

We do not understand why pundits keep talking about Rangers and Celtic moving to the Premier League as it’s never happening.

They are different teams in different leagues and pyramid systems and the fact of unifying it does not make any sense for the English top flight.

They’re seeing many of the small teams now spending as much as the big six so in terms of competition, it is at an all-time high.

The SPFL also would not allow it as it weakens the league and the broadcasters will probably not want to invest anything into it.

The two Glasgow rivals also want to play in Europe and win trophies and if they join the English pyramid, the chances of that happening are going to reduce considerably.

Souness needs to stop making such ridiculous suggestions every week and stick to talking about things he’s got an idea about.
