Jeff Stelling makes Rangers prediction for Champions League clash v Ajax

Jeff Stelling has predicted Rangers to end their Champions League campaign with a sixth straight loss when they take on Ajax on Tuesday.

Gers are certainly fighting for pride and a small amount of prize money when they take on the Dutch champions as their exit is already sealed.

Ajax will qualify for the Europa League if they avoid a five-goal defeat against the 55-time SPFL champions, having battered them 4-0 in the reverse fixture.

On Sky Sports’ Super Six website, Stelling predicted a 1-0 for the visitors.

Free hit

Rangers absolutely have nothing to lose here and it is a free hit in many ways as anything they get from the game will be considered a bonus.

Ajax are predicted to run out comfortable winners, but stranger things have happened in the Champions League before and an upset could be on the cards.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst knows that he is fighting for his job and while he’s in no immediate danger of a sack, a couple of bad results on the spin could make things go south very soon.

As long as they are within touching distance of Celtic, it will be well and good but once the Hoops start to take strides away, things will get tough for the Dutchman.

We’re hoping that he manages to turn things around and a surprise win against Ajax would certainly give him some more time.

The fans react to good results and performances and if this Rangers side can put a show for them at Ibrox, van Bronckhorst may even avoid the sack for the time being.
