Finance Expert: Kyle Fox could pay £50million in cheap Rangers investment push

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers could be valued as high as £200million as takeover talks continue to rumble between Kyle Fox and the club.

The Finance Expert has shared that the American could end up paying as much as £50million to get her foot through the door in Glasgow with appeal high at the club.

The Daily Record has reported that Fox has an agreement in place to hoover up between 25% and 30%, making her the largest individual shareholder at Ibrox if it goes through.

“It’s really interesting when you start to look at valuations and clubs that are now available,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“The attractive thing with Rangers is the dominance in Scotland, it’s them and Celtic with that rivalry and you can play on that in commercial terms with more leverage. The historic nature and the short term of where they’ve been and where they are now with Champions League football.

“In terms of those valuations, it’s relatively cheap investment to invest in the football club for quite high return if you can get it right, every kind of equity or enterprise value that we’ve seen, going back a couple of years, Rangers were in the £100million-£130million ballpark to buy the club outright.

“Factor in the Champions League and other intangibles, you might argue that they are pushing maximum £200million as a valuation. If they are in for 25% of that, that’s £30-50million, depending on where you land on the investment so it’s quite cheap investment in many ways.

“There is a lot of appeal in Rangers at the moment.”

This could be a historic moment in recent Rangers history.

Fox has made it very clear after the legal proceedings had come to an end that she would continue pushing to get these new shares over the line.

With a new majority shareholder in place, it is likely that changes will come along with that, so all eyes will be firmly planted on Ibrox over the coming weeks and months.
