Kenny Miller delivers verdict on Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz
Kenny Miller has suggested that Rangers summer signing Ridvan Yilmaz had a real “Ibrox eye-opener” after his performance against Dundee.
The Turkish full-back made a rare first-team appearance for the Gers as they won 1-0 and reached the semi-finals. However, the Gers fans were unhappy with the manner of the victory and they jeered the team.
Miller was impressed with Yilmaz and said the pressure he was under was unfair as he had no control over his price tag.

“Life in Glasgow may have been strange enough for Ridvan Yilmaz to adjust to – then came Wednesday night and a real Ibrox eye-opener,” wrote Miller for The Sunday Mail.
“It’s all unfamiliar to Yilmaz, he carries a price tag, one he had no control over. He’s not getting the games coming at him thick and fast, as he’d have liked. The pressure, scrutiny and questions around him, because of the fee, is unfair. Yet that’s the nature of Glasgow. Rangers lost the title, there needed to be a response, the team improved – and the biggest spend is on Yilmaz who has barely kicked a ball.
“He looks quick, a good ball carrier whose distribution is pretty good when driving forward inside or outside. His head’s always up and technically he looks a good passer. I moved to Wolves on my own at 21. That’s completely different to moving countries, cultures – even continents, depending on where you’ve come from in Turkey!”
Mess
The Gers find themselves in a complete mess at the moment, and both Giovanni Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson must share the blame for this.
In the summer, the Bears lost a key player in Calvin Bassey. They tried to fill the hole with new additions, but some of the signings are highly questionable.
Yilmaz joined the club in the summer transfer window for around £5 million from Besiktas. For whatever reason, he wasn’t picked by the Dutchman.
If he was not good enough, then why the club signed him in the first place? Then surely, the Dutchman and his scouting team didn’t follow him thoroughly.

He is a young talent who is already an established international for his country. He has moved to a new country, a new league, and needed time to settle down.
The best way to do this is to integrate him gradually. However, the Dutchman completely ignored him all this time, which led us to believe that he felt that Yilmaz is still not ready or he was not good enough.
There are talks about him sending back to Turkey on loan. This is absolutely shocking transfer policy – there’s no concrete plan or vision involved.
