Tam McManus: Fashion Sakala should have been sent off for violent conduct in Rangers win v Dundee
We’re delighted to welcome Tam McManus as our exclusive Rangers columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Tam McManus has insisted that Rangers forward Fashion Sakala should have been sent off in the 1-0 victory against Dundee on Wednesday 19th October.
The Zambian forward appeared to kick out at Cammy Kerr but was spared his marching orders with only a yellow card handed out at the time, which led to complaints.
McManus admitted it was “violent conduct” even if Sakala didn’t make contact, and should have led to him serving a suspension after a red card.

“He was lucky,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“There were still 25 minutes left, so the Dundee manager pointed it out that it could have been a turning point in the game, whether they would have scored, but it gives them the man advantage.
“I do think he should have been sent off, the two of them had a tangle and he kicks out, the slightest little kick. If you kick out, even if you don’t hit them, it’s violent conduct and you should be sent off.
“I think he was fortunate.”

Lucky.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst will likely make many changes again this weekend after his side were booed off after the Premier Sports Cup win, despite making it into the semi-finals.
Sakala is lucky that he will be available even if from the bench, with a three-match ban potentially waiting for him if Willie Collum had seen the altercation.
Playground stuff like this has to be metaphorically stamped out, or one decision can cost your team points or progression in cups, it is simply not on.
