Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara picks up ankle injury, could return v Napoli

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has picked up an ankle injury and he won’t feature against Livingston in the Scottish Premiership clash on Saturday (22 October).

The Gers will be looking to secure their third win in a row in all competitions ahead of their European clash against Napoli away from home.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst can forget about European hopes, and the last two games should be about salvaging pride. Kamara is expected to be back against Napoli.

“Glen (Kamara) had a problem with his ankle, we are hopeful he will return for the match against Napoli,” said Van Bronckhorst, as quoted by the Daily Record.

Big season

It is a big season for Kamara who needs to step up and show his worth to the side.

Alan Rough hailed Kamara as a “superb” player on PLZ Soccer on 18 October, adding that he is more suited to European football.

At one point, Kamara was heavily linked with a move away from Ibrox, with Aston Villa thought to be one of the clubs vying for his signature.

Rangers

A potential reunion with Steven Gerrard is now out of the question after the former Gers boss was sacked by the Premier League club. To be fair, Kamara hasn’t done enough in recent months that can attract potential buyers.

He has been a senior player at the club, but he is not a first-team guaranteed starter anymore.

Kamara has a contract at the club until 2025, and Rangers are under no pressure to sell him. But he is capable of doing a lot better.
