Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is over the moon that Kemar Roofe has returned from injury

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is over the moon that Kemar Roofe has returned from injury and is available for his first-team squad.

Roofe made his long-awaited return to action in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Dundee at Ibrox, playing 15 minutes of the game.

Van Bronckhorst confessed the forward’s “energy” was seen straight away in his return and he is more than happy to be able to select him again.

“Very pleased because he had a lot of injuries, he worked hard and his drive is there,” said Van Bronckhorst as quoted by the Herald.

“He hasn’t played for so long so you could see the energy he brought. It’s good for me to have him back. You need injured players back as quickly as possible so I’m pleased for Kemar that he is back now.”

Wonderful.

A fit Kemar Roofe would be a wonderful thing for Rangers moving forward, he’s an ideal weapon for Van Bronckhorst to utilise.

The Jamaica international has been out injured for six months and was expected to leave the club this summer but the fantastic talent opted to stay put.

He has a poaching pedigree that can be paired perfectly alongside Antonio Colak or at least as alternatives to each other.

Roofe’s biggest problem at Ibrox and throughout his career has been injuries, if he can see the back of these this season, Gers will be in for a treat.

He looked extremely sharp during his cameo against Dundee and could be in for a shout of starting on Saturday against Livingston.

Is that too soon? Maybe, but Rangers don’t currently have any reliable options down their right flank and Roofe could easily fill in there.

Rabbi Matondo and Fashion Sakala would be his competition, but Roofe provides some experience that is needed in this underperforming Rangers side.
