Finance Expert: Rangers insulated once again as SPFL strongly oppose new plans
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers would be insulated from Scottish FA concerns regarding potential plans in England to scrap the Saturday 3 pm blackout.
The Finance Expert admitted that matchday attendance could be hit hard in Scotland as a consequence, although the Bears would still sell out Ibrox every single game.
It comes after reports suggested that new bidders could be invited into the English game including Amazon and Netflix alongside Sky Sports, something which the SFA are strongly against [Mail].

“The main worry is they are thinking that people in Scotland would stay in and watch the English games rather than going to watch the Scottish teams,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“That seems to be the wider impact for Scottish football. It’s live attendance that may be hit on the back of that. In terms of the clubs, Rangers would be insulated from that in terms of one of the biggest clubs in Scotland, and ones that would sell out every week.”

Fans are already said to be fighting back in England, and with the plans not potentially in place until 2024, there are far greater concerns right now.
Everything is to do with money in modern football, something that has been made very clear.
The Scottish FA want to boost attendance and participation at the Grass Roots level, and they believe going against these plans will help that, although it wouldn’t affect Rangers either way.
Sellouts are guaranteed at Ibrox, and long may that continue.
