Barry Ferguson: Rangers will not bring back Steven Gerrard
Barry Ferguson has suggested that Rangers will not bring Steven Gerrard back to Ibrox.
Gerrard was sacked by Aston Villa on Thursday (20 October) after the Villans lost 3-0 against Fulham.
The former Gers boss guided the club to the Scottish Premiership title a couple of seasons back, but Ferguson insists that there’s “no way” back for Gerrard at Ibrox.

“No chance, I don’t think that will happen. No way. He’s left and he’s went elsewhere. He’s gone to Aston Villa and unfortunately it has not worked out for him. I look at it from a Rangers point of view,” Ferguson said, as quoted by Football Scotland.
“It was a building process with Gerrard. I thought he did a brilliant job at Rangers but I just can’t see that happening. I don’t know (if fans would take him back).
“I know a lot of them were unhappy that he left in the first place so it would be 50-50. You would need to ask people’s opinions.”
Spot on
Ferguson is absolutely spot on here. There is no way the club should bring back Gerrard.
The former Liverpool skipper did an incredible job to stop Celtic’s 10-in-a-row push, and guided the club to an unbeaten season.
However, he left the club for Aston Villa and the manner of his departure angered many fans.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been doing a terrific job. He took the club to the final of the Europa League, and the Gers are firmly in the title race this season, with just two points behind Celtic.
Gerrard started well in Birmingham, and the club backed him with funds in the past two transfer windows. It was expected that they will push for the top-half finish, but the decision was made after a terrible run of form.
Villa are languishing just a place above the relegation zone by one goal, with two wins from 11 games.
