Van Bronckhorst shares contract update on Rangers duo
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has admitted that Rangers duo – Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent – are not close to signing new contracts at the moment.
The Dutch boss has suggested that both the players are “improving”, but it’s a “wait and see” game at the moment. It could drag on for months, or maybe until the summer.
Both players are in the final years of their new deals, and their futures at Ibrox are uncertain.

“Of course you want your players to sign contracts sooner than later but you need two sides to agree. We have to wait and see what will happen in the coming months or even in the summer,” said Van Bronckhorst, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“I don’t think the uncertainty is affecting them. Ryan is in and out of the game but is improving his performance.
“Alfredo is different because he came back from a long-term injury. They both want to improve and perform whenever they are playing.”
Conundrum
Both Kent and Morelos have been key players for the Gers over the years, and the Dutchman has made it clear that he wants them to sign new deals.
However, it seems, whatever the reasons, they are not close to penning new contracts at the club.
Rangers could run the risk of losing them for free.
Financially, it will be a huge blow for the club. Both the players have done outstandingly well, and losing them for free is unthinkable.

On the other hand, Morelos and Kent have not done enough this season. Antonio Colak has been the first-choice striker for the club, and Morelos has played as a back-up option.
Van Bronckhorst will be frustrated with Kent as well. For a player of his ability, he doesn’t score many, nor he provides tons of assists. Basically, his output is questionable.
Having said that, the Gers will probably try their best to persuade them into agreeing new deals, but it could go either way as well.
