Finance Expert: Rangers can generate more cash as shares made available at Ibrox
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers may be looking to generate even more cash this month as more shares in the club have become available.
The Finance Expert admitted that the club may see it as a viable strategy to make more money as shares became available at Ibrox through Tifosy Exchange in October.
This isn’t the first time that has happened at Rangers, with the ability to include fans seen as a wider appeal, although not all clubs agree on that.

“That’s always a possibility,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“You’ve got to be thinking that you’re going to generate cash from the share sales, not every club does it as they don’t think they can generate the cash, but a lot do. If you can bring fans in on that, that has a wider appeal.
“There are still risks on that, but this is an example of how you can do it if you wanted to. We have seen a lot of share offerings from Rangers in the past couple of years, so if they think they need to generate more cash, then that is an option, we might see less of it in the coming years given the success on the pitch in recent seasons.
“That’s always the way you would play it, if that’s a viable strategy then that’s what we’re going to do.”

Getting the fans involved has always been a major stand at Ibrox, with Club 1872 currently owning 19,952,838 shares or 4.62% of the club.
With that changing regularly though with shares becoming available, those percentages can shift around which ultimately only brings more money into the club.
More importantly, those who do buy in get a say in AGMs and the rest, something which is likely set to become even more important in the years to come, or maybe the immediate future given the struggles right now.
