Jamie Carragher admits Rangers loss v Liverpool was freak result on Sky Sports
Jamie Carragher has admitted that Rangers losing 7-1 to Liverpool in the Champions League was nothing short of a freak result despite the backlash that has followed.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that there wasn’t much in the game before that second-half collapse by the Bears, with little quality on show despite eight goals being scored.
Liverpool now take on Manchester City, who Carragher insisted that the difference between them and Rangers is simply night and day, which everyone knows.

Speaking live on The Essential Football Podcast for Sky Sports, Carragher singled out why he wouldn’t take too much from the result at Ibrox in midweek.
“Rangers compared to Manchester City is night and day,” he said.
“I think it was a bit of a freak result, if you look at the first half of the game against Rangers, it wasn’t of great quality, there was very little in the game, and it was a freak second half.”

Shock.
If you look at the game, it was nothing that Liverpool did that turned the game.
Rangers capitulated and they made mistake after mistake which simply left them wide open at the back, something that any capable team could easily take advantage of.
The goals came from one, two or three passes before the ball hit the back of the net, with the defence and midfield embarrassing in those moments.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has rightly taken some slack but his tactics had the side 1-0 in front before the collapse, so the players have to take a big slice of that blame too.
The sooner this Champions League campaign is over the better, but if we can take one win or even some points from Napoli and Ajax, it would be miraculous.
It may have come across as a freak result, but it still happened and there can be no excuses with big changes needed in the coming weeks to avoid being embarrassed again.
