Jurgen Klopp admits Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers lineup at Anfield was unexpected
Giovanni van Bronckhorst decided to leave out Rangers striker Antonio Colak against Liverpool last week – a decision that Jurgen Klopp didn’t see coming.
Liverpool strolled to a 2-0 victory at Anfield, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed salah doing the damage for the Reds.
Van Bronckhorst decided to leave out the in-form Colak in favour of Alfredo Morelos during the Anfield visit, and even Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted it raised eyebrows.

“We were not sure if they would play four in the back or five in the back, that’s one thing. I think they could have started with a different striker, but surprised? No,” said Klopp, as quoted by Liverpool’s official website.
“I really thought Rangers really went for it, they really tried. We were really good and we should not forget that.”
Colak has to start
After making a huge mistake at Anfield last week, Van Bronckhorst has to adapt and star Colak at Ibrox.
The talented Croatian international has scored 13 goals in 16 games for Rangers this season. He responded to his Anfield snub by scoring yet another brace against St Mirren on the weekend.

It’s baffling that Colak seems to be Van Bronckhorst’s first name on the teamsheet in the Scottish Premiership, but misses out entirely when it comes to huge European nights.
Arguably Morelos did fairly well last week considering the complete lack of service, but again Van Bronckhorst remains hesitant when it comes to playing both him and Colak together.
With Rangers needing a huge result and a positive start, it seems logical that both strikers start Wednesday’s match together up top, but it’ll likely be one or the other.
If that is the case – Colak has to get the nod.
