Kris Boyd names Rangers trio in Team of the Week after St Mirren win
Kris Boyd has selected three Rangers players and just one Celtic man as he’s picked his SPFL Team of the Week for the games that took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Gers put aside their European woes as they managed to register a convincing 4-0 victory over St Mirren at Ibrox.
Antonio Colak made the team for his two goals and also won the penalty for James Tavernier’s spot kick while Allan McGregor and Fashion Sakala were also picked with Reo Hatate being the pick for their arch rivals.
SunSport announced Boyd’s Team of the Week via their Twitter handle.
Right calls?
We’re a tad surprised to see McGregor in there as he was relatively untroubled and seldom called into action on Saturday afternoon.
Apart from that, Boyd has been spot on with his picks and it was impossible to overlook both Sakala and Colak for their exceptional performances.
Sakala has been in terrific form of late and he’s making it hard for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to keep him out of his side.
His energy on the right flank gives Rangers a different dimension going forward and it’s hard to keep up with him at times as he’s lightning-quick.
For Colak, few would’ve thought he would have the kind of start he has at Ibrox and it’s not easy keeping a player like Alfredo Morelos out of the team.
He’s leading the SPFL goal-scoring charts with 10 goals in nine games and is averaging a strike every 65 minutes which is phenomenal and the recruitment team deserves credit for getting this deal over the line this summer.
In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson may have played a blinder for Rangers after a shocking development in October that will leave many Gers fans surprised.
