Ally McCoist and Kenny Dalglish stunned Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor

Ally McCoist and Kenny Dalglish sang the praises of Rangers veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor during a one-on-one chat for BT Sport ahead of Rangers Liverpool clash.

Despite losing at Anfield in their last fixture, Rangers goalkeeper McGregor was in fine form and saved the Gers from complete humiliation on the night.

Dalglish chuckled as he admitted Rangers will need “another performance” like that from the Scottish goalkeeper if they stand a chance of winning at Ibrox on Wednesday evening.

“You’re going to need another performance like that from Alan McGregor,” said Dalglish.

“He’s unbelievable, 40 years of age, that’s not just a one-off game for McGregor there, that’s all last year as well.”

“Amazing,” replied McCoist.

Class.

The veteran has still got it and has proven he has the levels to perform at the highest level in football for a while longer.

People questioned the decision behind the club’s reasoning for extending the goalkeeper’s contract by another season and they have been put to shame.

The goalkeeper was a focal point of Gers Europa League charge last season and proved once again at Anfield his priceless worth to the squad.

Rangers have failed to invest in any new goalkeeping talents, it would have been wise to bring in a young talent to learn from the experienced McGregor.

Dalglish is right about Gers needing McGregor to be at his very best again when Liverpool comes to Ibrox Wednesday evening, they’ll need every ounce of luck they can scrape together.

McGregor has proved time and time again he’s still one of the best around, it would be foolish to doubt the goalkeeper again.
