Dan Plumley: Rangers will want to move on after being hit by merchandise fine
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers will be ready to move on finally after being hit by a £225,000 fine by the CMA due to fixing the prices of club merchandise.
The finance expert admitted it was a relatively light hit in the scheme of things, with the total fine including JD Sports and Elite Sports hitting £2million [The Scottish Sun].
Plumley believes that the manner of the fines and the Bears taking the lowest hit means they can show that they were not the most guilty party in this fiasco.

“It’s a relatively light hit financially in the scheme of things,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“Also, they can play that on the fact that we were involved but we were not the guiltiest party, so that moves some of it over.
“They will be wanting to move on from that and with the hit a low touch, it is now out of the way.”

This is one of those stories that had been hanging over the heads of the club for ages now, and there will be a sigh of relief that it has finally come to an end.
Just above £200,000 is a light hit, that is true, but that still doesn’t make it a good look for Rangers to be involved in such a scandal which ultimately hits the fans.
JD Sports were fined over £1million, so you would assume that they had the biggest role to play of the three, with all parties likely in the same boat in terms of being thankful it has come to an end.
