Ben Davies will hope for Rangers start v Hearts as John Souttar injury news stays quiet

Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action this weekend after the international break with a tough trip to Hearts the latest showdown on the agenda.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has numerous injury issues to deal with, but it seems that Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Rabbi Matondo, Malik Tillman and Steven Davis all returned from their countries unscathed.

Changes are certainly on the cards for the Bears though, with Football Scotland reporting that Ben Davies will be hopeful of starting after being on the bench in the past couple of games.

His chances may appear strong.

Mystery still surrounds John Souttar, with no updates on his injury despite not being available since that opening day win over Livingston as his absence continues.

Connor Goldson and James Sands have been utilised since, but the latter was sent off against Napoli last time out in the Champions League, and looked to have struggled severely.

That could open the door to Davies.

Decisions.

With some big games coming up against Liverpool in the Champions League, Van Bronckhorst has some big decisions to make right now going to Tynecastle.

Sands is suspended for the first clash with the Reds, so Davies is the most likely favourite to come in at this stage unless Leon King gets the nod which would be very surprising.

Based on that, the Dutchman surely needs to throw Davies into his side at Hearts alongside Goldson to get them used to one another ahead of what could be the biggest tests of their careers at Anfield.

Souttar continues to be a mystery too as he stays on the touchline, potentially bringing those fears to life when he signed over that very poor injury record.

Hopefully, that can change very soon as he has class when available and playing at his best, something we seemingly desperately need at the back right now.

All eyes are on Saturday already.
