Ryan Jack looked 'sharper' for Scotland after struggling at Rangers - journalist
Ryan Jack was singled out for praise by The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell on Tuesday night after the Rangers midfielder put on an eye-catching display for Scotland.
Scotland secured Nations League promotion on Tuesday night after a goalless stalemate with Ukraine in Poland.
Jack started for Steve Clarke’s side and put in a solid shift over 72 minutes before he was substituted for Stuart Armstrong.
After a poor start to the season with Rangers, it’s promising to see Jack’s season get up and running. Campbell spotted his improvement for Scotland and noted it on Twitter.
“Ryan Jack controlling possession well the last ten minutes for Scotland,” read Campbell’s Tweet.
“Looking a lot sharper than he did at the start of the season.”
Perhaps Jack’s issue at Ibrox this season was to do with match fitness. He looked much fitter and focused on Wednesday night as he helped Scotland fend off Ukraine.
His composure was never in question, and he showed his usual level of class on the ball for Clarke’s side despite the pressure of promotion hanging over their heads.
It’s not known whether Jack was made aware before the match that he’d only play 72 minutes, but it seemed to bring the best out of him.
It’s something that Giovanni van Bronckhorst might have to utilise in the coming weeks as he gets Jack back up to top form and fitness.
But overall, Gers fans will be delighted to see Jack back at his best. It’s now his job to carry over that form to Ibrox and help the side keep pressure on Celtic at the top of the table.
First up is a difficult trip to Hearts, and Jack will likely play a crucial role in midfield for Rangers.
