Celtic are reportedly eyeing a January move for Maccabi Tel Aviv teenager Oscar Gloukh who was on the radar of Rangers last summer.
According to the Daily Record, the 18-year-old midfielder has been named on Ange Postecoglou’s wishlist for the winter after the World Cup.
The attacking midfielder, who is highly-rated in his native Israel, has already been watched by scouts at Parkhead ahead of a potential transfer.
It is understood that the Israeli outfit are demanding £8million in order to part ways with him this summer.
While the Record claim Gers were interested last summer, the Sunday Mirror reported on 10 July 2022 (page 74), that he was also on their radar in the recent transfer window.
Time to rekindle interest
Rangers just cannot sit and see Celtic becoming even stronger in a title race where they’re already lagging behind.
Gloukh is not just a player they can use for the present but he’s also a good investment for the future as he’s already showing just how good he is at 18.
In fact, the Israeli youngster burst onto the scene earlier this year when he wowed many at the Under-19 EUROs.
Since then, there’s no surprise that his stock has risen and Gers may have missed the trick by not signing him last summer when he was relatively unknown.
According to a recent scouting report by the Mastermind Site, he’s an out-and-out number 10 who often finds himself in pockets of space before he plays the forward pass to the attacking players.
He has also been labelled a “Magician” for his eye-of-the-needle pass, although he has been criticised for his work-rate off the ball.
Still, at his age, he can be moulded into playing a more complete role and maybe even playing as a free eight who operates in the half spaces and does the same work as a number 10.
He’s certainly one player Gers have to keep tabs on.
