Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak to start together - Rangers predicted XI vs Hearts

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is set to make some big decisions on his Rangers team as they take on Hearts on Saturday lunchtime in the SPFL.

The Gers snapped a three-game losing streak when they managed to defeat Dundee United 2-1 after defeats against Celtic, Ajax and Napoli saw morale at rock bottom.

But after a win and then a two-week break for international duty, the team are now ready for a reset and to go again ahead of a busy month and the manager must make some big calls with his team selection.

In goal Jon McLaughlin started the season as the number one before an injury gave Allan McGregor a chance to get back in the side. McLaughlin is still injured so the veteran should keep his place, and he’s likely to give his all to keep that shirt as the season goes on.

In defence James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are untouchable at right-back and right centre-back and after having a period of rest over the last few weeks they should be back to their best for this upcoming run of games.

Goldson’s partner in defence has been ever-changing this season with John Souttar, Ben Davies and James Sands all having their ups and downs, but Leon King was excellent last time out and the youngster should feel hard done by if he is left out here.

At left back Ridvan Yilmaz is still struggling to get regular minutes after his summer move, but Borna Barisic continues to perform well and be a threat going forward so he should keep his spot in the side.

Midfield has seen its host of changes this season too, but one constant has been John Lundstram and the former Sheffield United man will continue in the side once again. But his partner is certainly up for debate.

Steven Davis and Ryan Jack both performed admirably on international duty, but Glen Kamara is by far the best of the options and should slot into the side after featuring for Finland too despite his recent comments about his future.

Tom Lawrence is expected to miss the game with injury, so Malik Tillman should come into the side on the right drifting in-field to create and be a nuisance, while the always dangerous Ryan Kent will get the nod on the left wing.

Fans have been calling for something different in attack, and this is the perfect chance for Van Bronckhorst to put Alfredo Morelos and Antonio Colak up front together to see if they can work as a partnership.

The Colombian is said to have been working hard in training and has shown an improved attitude so deserves his chance of getting his place back, while Colak’s goalscoring form means he shouldn’t be dropped either.

Predicted Rangers XI vs Hearts: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, King, Barisic; Lundstram, Kamara; Tillman, Kent; Morelos, Colak.
