Rangers confirmed starting XI for Champions League clash v Napoli

Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for their huge Champions League group stage clash against Napoli at Ibrox on Wednesday evening (3 September).

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made five changes to the side that was hammered by Ajax with the major change up front with Alfredo Morelos replacing in-form Antonio Colak.

Steven Davis has come in for Glen Kamara in midfield and Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield have replaced Malik Tillman and Scott Wright in the more advanced roles.

As expected Allan McGregor comes in to replace Jon McLaughlin in the Rangers net after he missed training in the lead-up to the fixture.

Must win

It has the feeling of a must-win match for Rangers tonight in what is going to prove a really tough test of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

Napoli are coming to Ibrox off the back of a memorable victory over last season’s Champions League finalists Liverpool and are also flying high at the top of the Seria A table.

When the groups were drawn for this year’s competition, the Gers would’ve been targeting the home fixtures against Napoli and Ajax as their most feasible chance of getting points on the board.

Van Bronckhorst and the players must put their miserable defeat in Amsterdam behind them and really use what will be an emotionally charged Ibrox to their advantage, as they have done many times before.

Napoli’s players will be used to big European occasions at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, but Ibrox will be a totally different experience for the Italian side.

A home match in Europe is exactly what the Gers need after two miserable away performances and despite their poor form of late, it would not be a shock to see the Light Blues put in a good performance this evening.

In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
