Giovanni van Bronckhorst must drop Ryan Kent in Rangers v Napoli

Rangers will face Napoli in their next Champions League game on Wednesday (14 September), and Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to make some bold calls.

The Bears were absolutely no match against Ajax in their opening game which they lost 4-0 away from home.

A must better performance is needed against Napoli who defeated Liverpool 4-1 in their opening game.

The match will be played at Ibrox, a ground where the Gers have done extremely well in Europe.

Van Bronckhorst needs to make some bold calls, as he is under loads of pressure. The team selection needs to be spot on, and that’s why he must drop Ryan Kent for this game.

Kent has been a key player for the club, and he is more likely to create chances than any other player in the side.

But that’s only one half of the story. Kent is not an effective player. He doesn’t score many. He doesn’t provide enough assists either.

A player of his quality should be doing a lot more than just fancy trickery. It’s time Van Bronckhorst must drop him, and bring in players who are hungry to prove a point.

He was poor in recent games, and it looks like he needs to recharge his batteries. He has been below par. Given his quality and experience, the 25-year-old should be doing a lot better.

Is his contract situation bothering him? Could be. Kent has less than 12 months left in his contract, and he could be available for free next summer. Aston Villa are reportedly keen to sign him.

There has been no inclination that the club want to keep him beyond the summer. Whatever it is, it’s time to keep him on the sidelines for a while until he gets his mojo back.

In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
