Journalist shares if Ridvan Yilmaz will replace Borna Barisic in Rangers XI
Rangers will not look to replace Borna Barisi with Ridvan Yilmaz despite the Turkish left-back joining for big money this summer.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has given Yilmaz chances to prove his worth, but Barisic still appears to be his first-choice left-back.
Despite heavy defeats against Celtic and Ajax, Rangers Review journalist Jonny McFarlane does not see a change incoming.
He said, “If you’ve brought in Yilmaz when Barisic is there then there must be a plan and a transition period. He’s got a five-year contract. He can still come good over time but I do not see him playing over Barisic.”
Makes sense
Despite all of Rangers’ failings this season, the blame cannot be attached on Barisic as he’s one of the few good players.
Since Yilmaz was announced, he’s taken his game to the next level knowing fully well that his performances in the past have not been good.
When the Turkey international was signed for £5million [Sky Sports], the assumption was that he would be a nailed-on starter.
Looking at Barisic’s performances from 2021/22, it was not too extreme to assume that his days in the team were numbered.
However, he needs to be lauded for this upturn in form and van Bronckhorst has numerous issues to sort out but left-back is not one of them.
Hopefully, he manages to turn things around quickly as the pressure is mounting and you’re only a couple of defeats away from a crisis at Rangers.
In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
