Rangers may have received boost as Napoli star Victor Osimhen injured
Rangers may have received a boost ahead of their next Champions League game against Napoli with Victor Osimhen doubtful for that game.
The Bears suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Ajax in the opening game of the Champions League, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will look to put in a better performance in the second game.
It won’t be easy though as Napoli are coming into their second game after beating Liverpool 4-1 in their first game.
The Gers, however, could be boosted as Osimhen could miss out. He picked up a hamstring injury in the last game, and he will miss the upcoming international break.
“As scheduled, Victor Osimhen underwent diagnostic tests this morning which revealed a second-degree injury to his right hamstring,” Napoli’s update on the Super Eagles star, read on Friday.
Napoli have a wealth of attacking options and they are well capable of causing damage. Hirving Lazano could replace Osimhem, and he is equally a potent threat.
Obviously, it comes as a boost for Rangers, but Van Bronckhorst should focus on getting the best out of his players.
Against Ajax, it was a shambolic performance from the Gers. The defence was all over the place, and they were no match against the Dutch giants.
Van Bronckhorst rightly pointed out that it requires millions of investments to do well in the Champions League. While nobody is denying that, people wanted to see fight and determination from the players.
This side reached the finals of the Europa League only a few months back. But they looked out of place against Ajax.
The next game will be at Ibrox. Under Van Bronckhorst, the iconic venue has turned into a fortress, especially in Europe. Rangers need to put a strong fight against the Naples club. That’s the least they can do.
In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
