Neil Doncaster looks to push through TV deal as Rangers look for SPFL payout

Neil Doncaster and the SPFL are looking to push through the new TV deal for the Scottish Premiership without Rangers, according to Keith Jackson.

The Daily Record journalist has reported that the Bears would be happy to sign the new agreement, but want the SPFL to apologise over the Cinch row as well as pick up the legal fees for Douglas Park and the club first.

That doesn’t appear to be happening as Doncaster looks to push ahead with the 11 clubs who have already signed and agreed to the new Sky deal.

Rangers

The Rangers hierarchy is behind the above plan, which looks to be bringing little success.

Doncaster’s attempt to get around Rangers will see a new commercial resolution which will only require those 11 clubs as well as others throughout the SPFL.

Sky are upping their season coverage to 60 games, with the payment going up to £30million per season by 2028, with the chance for clubs to pay-per-view five of their home outings.

With Doncaster or Rangers not appearing to be playing ball, it looks like this one will only continue.

The SPFL will not want to be seen as weak, but Park and the boardroom will also have their own view on that and won’t want to back down after this very big dispute.

Using the agreement to try and get that payout and apology appears to have backfired though, with Doncaster looking to go down other routes rather than just accept that.

One way or another, it looks possible that this deal will be signed off by the other clubs, so Rangers may need to come up with another plan to get what they want.

With the club happy to sign off on the deal and end this previous feud, it appears they are more straightforward in this debacle and there will be hope it can be ended sooner rather than later.
