Jan van Halst predicts outcome of Rangers Champions League clash v Ajax
Dutch Tv analyst Jan van Halst has predicted Ajax to win their opening Champions League group game against Rangers when they face each other on Wednesday at home.
The Bears are heading into this game on the back of a 4-0 defeat against Celtic in the Old Firm derby, and van Halst suggests that Ajax would be following a similar strategy.
The former Ajax player has suggested that the Gers tend to struggle when they are put under pressure.

“Ajax will win the match,” said van Halst, as quoted by The Scottish Sun.
“Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to play good football at Rangers and every now and then that works out quite well.
“But it doesn’t work when they get put under any kind of sustained pressure.
“Look at the weekend. Celtic grabbed Rangers by the throat and thundered all over them.
“Rangers had no idea what to do.
“I can tell you that Ajax will do exactly that too. They will put Rangers under huge pressure.”
Confidence
Rangers are pitted in the group of death, and they will have to be spot on with their tactics if they want to pick up something from this game, and other games.
Ajax are one of the giants in Europe, and it won’t be easy to get a positive away from home.
Having said that, Rangers have done incredibly well under Giovanni van Bronckhorst in European games in the past 12 months, and they have qualified to the group stages.
They have beaten strong opposition and also won against PSV Eindhoven away from home.

The Bears are more than capable of getting a positive result. However, there are a lot of other factors as well.
The Gers are heading into this game on the back of a 4-0 defeat against Celtic, and they need to pick themselves up for this game.
This is a big occasion for them, and they need to enjoy every moment. The team selection will also be interesting. Will Alfredo Morelos start? Will the Dutchman drop Ryan Kent?
Ajax are favourites no doubt, but Rangers can pull off a surprise here.
