Ajax to not reflect on Rangers performance in Celtic defeat – Alfred Schreuder
Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder has said that his players will not look to reflect on Rangers as a team by watching their performance in the defeat against Celtic.
The Gers suffered a thrashing defeat against the Hoops in the first Old Firm Derby of the 2022-23 campaign at the weekend, going down 4-0 at Parkhead.
Ajax’s manager still expects Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side to press from the front though, and is taking more direction from their win over PSV Eindhoven according to their boss, as shared by The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell on his personal Twitter account [6 September].
Big test
Rangers entered the campaign with a lot of hopes and until last weekend, everything was going as smoothly as they could’ve hoped for.
They were sitting in second place just two points behind league leaders Celtic heading into the Old FIrm clash, and had also cemented their place in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in over a decade.
However, a thrashing defeat against their fiercest rivals on Saturday changed a lot of things and now Rangers will be going into their upcoming matches with a lot at stake.

Next up for the Scottish club will be Ajax in the Champions League group stage opener on Wednesday and the fans will be hoping that the players will be able to turn things around quickly, before they face Aberdeen at the weekend.
It will be also a massive test for manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, as if he manages to turn things around in the matter of a few days things will start going back to normal.
If they suffer another massive defeat however, it will definitely mount pressure on the 47-year-old and things could go left.
