Rangers need requirements met to sign waiver for new Sky Sports deal

Rangers will not be signing the waiver letter needed to approve the new Sky Sports deal for the SPFL as things stand, according to The Athletic.

The deal is expected to increase the number of games to be televised from 48 to 60 and it is believed that it has been agreed upon by 11 out of the 12 clubs.

However, as per the latest report, there is an exchange of emails between the parties for further discussion, with certain things needing to be met before the waiver is signed off – which is the eventual plan.

Important

The success of any football league is directly related to the availability of the finances for all the teams participating in it.

It is because of this reason that the English Premier League has become such a powerhouse where even the clubs fighting to keep their place in the top-tier end up making as much as £100 million in TV revenue.

By the look of it, the new deal is at least a better one for Scottish clubs where they are expected to earn more than what they have done in the past.

However, the Gers are well within their rights to ensure that all of their interests are taken care of and that they get the best possible deal.

With the Cinch deal continuing in the background constantly, it looks as though Rangers will continue to be the odd ones out for the time being, although that isn’t exactly harming them right now.
