Andy Little: Rangers players have to take responsibility for schoolboy errors v Celtic
Andy Little bemoaned “schoolboy” errors by Rangers in their Old Firm defeat but insisted that Giovanni van Bronckhorst isn’t under pressure yet.
The Gers were dominated by their bitter rivals as Celtic extended their gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to five points after a 4-0 win at Parkhead.
Despite the damaging defeat, Little feels that the pressure is still off van Bronckhorst after a difficult start to their domestic campaign.
Talking on Sky Sports News on Sunday 4 September, Little said: “It’s still in Rangers’ hands at the end of the day as they know they need to go and win the next couple of Old Firm matches.
“It’s not that simple but the early signs from Celtic and Ange Postecoglou is that they’re extremely efficient.
“I don’t think so [pressure on Giovanni van Bronckhorst].
“It’s far too early for that in my book and a lot of what happened yesterday was down to the players and not just the manager, it was very basic and schoolboy errors switching off from set-pieces and Celtic exploited that.”
One to forget
Rangers’ first-half performance on Saturday lunchtime was as bad as they have been in a long time.
The players weren’t switched on and individual errors and lapses in concentration coupled with the fact they were facing a rampant Celtic only made for one outcome.
Some of the senior players need to stand up and take some accountability for what happened at Celtic Park rather than the attention being placed solely on van Bronckhorst.
Rangers’ boss has done exceptionally well since taking the reigns at Ibrox and is facing his first real tough spell in charge.

The Gers must ensure that they don’t dwindle on this result and drop any further points in the coming weeks.
Celtic will drop points at some point in the league this season and it’s crucial that Rangers are there to capitalise on any opportunity given to them by Postecoglou’s side.
Rangers get their European campaign underway this week and then face a trip to Aberdeen to get their domestic campaign back on track.
In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
