Chris Sutton sends Alfredo Morelos message after Celtic humble Rangers in Old Firm derby
Chris Sutton took a dig at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as Celtic thumped their cross-town rivals 4-0 in the Old Firm derby on Saturday.
The BBC pundit also slammed the performance by Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side as he waxed lyrical over his former club on the day.
The Hoops seemed in control from start to end and completely outclassed the 55-time SPFL champions on the day.
Via Twitter, Sutton wrote, “Ange’s Plan A worked quite well…Superb display from Celtic. An absolute pumping but still only 3 points. Nothing is won in September. From Rangers point of view it was rather embarrassing but at least Alfredo is easing his way back into condition…”
Shocking
Sutton has every right to gloat about this result as Rangers did nothing to prove that they deserve to be on the same level as their rivals.
One would think that Champions League qualification would give the players a much-needed boost ahead of the game, but that wasn’t the case.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst certainly deserves a fair share of the blame, but the board are the ones who put him in this position.
They did not sanction late moves for players despite the added revenue coming in from playing Champions League football.
This squad is not nearly as strong on paper and there’s only so much that they could’ve done to beat Celtic on the day.
Sure, performances from individuals like Jon McLaughlin were shocking, to say the least, but he cannot be made the scapegoat for the larger failings at Ibrox behind the scenes.
In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
