Agent offers former Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley to Rangers with Celtic also in picture
Rangers have reportedly been offered the services of Ross Barkley by his agent after his release by Premier League outfit Chelsea with Celtic also in the picture.
According to Football Scotland, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is believed to be interested in signing a midfielder before the transfer deadline, but the England international’s links have been all coming from his representatives.
The 28-year-old earned £200k/week at Stamford Bridge and knows that he’ll have to take a wage cut with a move to either Celtic or Gers now on the cards.
Via Twitter, Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry wrote, “Understand Barkley knows he won’t earn the same wage he‘s been on at Chelsea wherever he goes.
“Ultimately he’s earning nothing until he joins a new club so it’s actually potentially a doable deal for either Glasgow club.
“It’s down to Ross Wilson and whether he fancies pursuing.”
Get this done
Rangers desperately need to sign another midfielder and in Barkley they will be signing the complete midfielder should he be consistent.
Not only can he defend, but he’s also a good progresser of the ball and can also be devastating in the final third.
In a midfield three, he can be perfect as a number eight and he can even offer legs if he’s deployed in a double pivot.
His workrate is unquestioned and he will be angry and looking to prove a point after recent seasons of poor form in the Premier League.
He performed well on his loan spell at Aston Villa until he got an injury but now he will be looking to keep his setbacks aside and play regular first-team football.
Champions League qualification gives Rangers the chance and the funds to sign players they otherwise would not have been able to and Barkley certainly fits the bill.
Hopefully, they can go out and secure his services in the next 48 hours.
In other Rangers news, the BBC never seem to learn their lessons as they persist with their embarrassing anti-Rangers agenda.
