Keith Jackson: Alfredo Morelos fortunate despite fresh Rangers saga
By Isabel Crofts.
Keith Jackson has had his say on Alfredo Morelos’ future at Rangers amid ongoing speculation regarding a summer transfer.
The Colombian was recently dropped by Giovanni van Bronckhorst due to fitness and attitude concerns. Morelos was substituted on during his side’s clash with Hibernian but left the pitch in the 75th minute due to violent conduct resulting in a red card.
Van Bronckhorst consequently opted to omit the forward completely for Rangers’ crucial fixture against PSV Eindhoven in their bid for Champions League qualification.

However, Jackson is adamant the 26-year-old is able to weave his way back into the starting lineup, writing for the Daily Record: “Where he’s fortunate is that he has the chance to do something about it.
“He is in complete control of his own destiny. If he changes his attitude and shows he’s fully committed then it’ll change quickly for him. He’s not sitting there relying on a manager to get the sack.”

Morelos: Is it time to stick or twist?
Morelos has been Rangers’ top goalscorer for four seasons since joining the Scottish side in 2017, including as recently as last season.
The South-American was also named Rangers Player of the Year for his contributions across the 2021/2022 campaign that saw the club lift the Scottish Cup and finish runners-up in the Europa League.
As Van Bronckhorst’s side aim for glory in Scotland and at the highest level in Europe, keeping hold of a proven prolific striker like Morelos may be in their best interests.
He has never scored less than 10 goals for the club throughout five seasons in the Scottish Premiership, as well as always providing for his side in the Europa League.
This is nothing new to see Morelos questioned for his attitude and everything else in that department, and he always seems to bounce back, so let’s hope he can do that and then extend his stay at Ibrox.
Who would say no to that? Van Bronckhorst is going nowhere, and neither is the Bufalo.
