Ross Wilson has names ready to replace Alfredo Morelos ready in case of Rangers exit

Rangers are not set to bring in a new striker this summer unless they sell Alfredo Morelos, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reports on its website that the bears are not in the market for a new talisman, despite reportedly being offered Patrick Cutrone this week.

Morelos has entered the final year of his contract at Ibrox, and Ross Wilson is said to have a list of names ready to replace him if he exits during this window.

The window still has six weeks to run, and things are really hotting up.

Wilson is the perfect operator and has proved that with the quick move to tie up Besiktas defender Ridvan Yilmaz to replace Calvin Bassey who has had his move to Ajax confirmed.

That wouldn’t have happened as quick if the Ibrox chief didn’t have his list ready to go in case of a move happening, and the final third looks to be no different.

Nothing concrete has appeared over the future of Morelos so far though, so talks over a new contract may be more likely at this stage.

Smart.

Clubs would have to be naive not to have a list of players ready to go should interest come in for their best players in every single window.

Wilson isn’t stupid, he knows clubs will be sniffing around this Rangers squad, especially Morelos and Ryan Kent given their contractual situations right now.

With Antonio Colak already signed to add competition in the final third alongside Morelos and Kemar Roofe, there is no need for another number nine as things stand.

The Bufalo is working his way back to full fitness, and hopefully, that arrives sooner rather than later with those critical Champions League qualifiers coming up in August.

Wilson has his priorities elsewhere right now, but it is very refreshing to know that should the worst happen, the club are ready to open the chequebook once again and resolve the issue.

As things stand, Morelos is going nowhere – long may that continue.

In other Rangers news, the club are under no pressure to sell Glen Kamara this summer.
