Ally McCoist has slammed Fashion Sakala mistake in Rangers v Queen of the South
Ally McCoist has slammed midfielder Fashion Sakala after his mistake which led to Lee Connelly’s equaliser for Queen of the South in Rangers Scottish League Cup tie at Ibrox.
Sakala played a blind pass straight to Connelly in the 17th minute which saw the striker chip Allan McGregor with a delightful chip to cancel out Robbie Ure’s opening goal.
The Gers restored their lead in the 24th minute after brilliant work from Ridvan Yilmaz down the left flank before Scott Arfield finished smartly.

However, McCoist was not impressed with Sakala’s involvement in the equaliser for the Scottish League One side.
Talking on Premier Sports 1 [20:03, 30 August], McCoist said: “It’s absolutely shocking from Sakala, it’s a complete lapse concentration, but take nothing away from the finish.
“It’s sublime by Connelly who leaves Allan McGregor with no chance.
“It was a different class finish.”
Time for domestic dominance
It’s certainly time for Rangers to exert a little more dominance on the domestic scene with Celtic picking up the domestic double in the 2021/22 season.
The European run was amazing for the Gers last season, but for too long Celtic have been the dominant force in Scotland.
Rangers picked up the Scottish Cup at the end of the 2021/22 season, but there will now be an expectation for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to add more silverware to the already busy trophy cabinet.

The Rangers boss has made a host of changes for tonight’s game against Queen of the South, with the Gers set to face a busy schedule in the coming months.
Qualification for the Champions League means the Gers boss doesn’t have much choice but to rotate in the early stages of the domestic cup competitions.
It’s refreshing to see the likes of Adam Devine and young striker Ure given the chance from the outset.
Ure certainly looks like a forward who could be in and around the first team regularly this season.
In other Rangers news, Ross Wilson now has names lined up just in case Alfredo Morelos seals his exit this summer
