Borna Barisic left speechless after Rangers reach Champions League group stage
Borna Barisic has suggested that he has been left “speechless” after Rangers secured their passage to the Champions League group stages.
The Gers defeated PSV Eindhoven away from home in midweek to secure a 3-2 win on aggregate. They have been pitted in the group of death that includes the likes of Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli.
Barisic, who has been reportedly linked with an exit this summer [Daily Record, 14 August], has found the achievement ‘unbelievable’. He suggests that he is enjoying his time at the club.

“It is unbelievable. It is an unbelievable achievement for the club, for the fans and for the team,” said Barisic, as quoted by The Daily Record.
“It is our first time together qualifying for the Champions League after four years here. After last year, it is unbelievable. We have been to the Europa League final and now into the Champions League. We beat a very good side in PSV and we are very happy and very proud of this team.
“It is one of the best moments in my career for sure. When I look back on what I have achieved here over the last four years with Rangers it is unbelievable.
“Now we have Champions League and I don’t know what to say. I am speechless. And so proud of the boys. I am very happy for the club to be back in the Champions League and where we belong. It is a huge achievement. I am very happy.
“We showed it against Dortmund and Leipzig last year but the Champions League is a different level.”
Exciting times
At one point it seemed like Barisic could be heading for the Ibrox exit this summer.
He was linked with a move to Turkey but the deal never materialised.
However, after the departure of Calvin Bassey, it became clear that Giovanni van Bronckhorst will keep the left-back at the club. It seems the decision has been vindicated.
Rangers have made a good start to the season, and this result will give them immense confidence ahead of some big games in Europe.

The likes of Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli have great European pedigree, but Rangers need not fear them. They must enjoy this journey and give their best shot.
If they manage to get some positive results against any one of them, especially at Ibrox, it will indicate how far they have progressed under the Dutchman.
To be honest, Rangers can beat any side on their day at Ibrox, and fans must get ready for some great European nights at this iconic venue.
