Jim White drops instant Rangers and Celtic verdict in Champions League

Jim White has shared his verdict on Rangers and Celtic after the Scottish duo both officially returned to the group stages of the Champions League on Thursday.

Rangers will take on Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli in their group after they secured a historic win over two legs against PSV Eindhoven in dramatic fashion.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be licking his lips already with a chance to take on a Premier League side on the biggest stage in the shape of Liverpool (how Steven Gerrard would have liked that).

Writing on his personal Twitter account instantly after the draw, White shared his verdict on the hope of the Scottish clubs this season on the biggest stage.

“Great Champions League draw,” he wrote.

“@CelticFC in with Real Madrid while an all-British affair between Rangers FC and Liverpool.”

Wow.

What a moment this is.

We were all dreaming of the Champions League, but it still doesn’t feel real that we have finally returned to the big stage and will be taking on some huge clubs.

Liverpool are the standout tie of course, with an all-British game on the cards with huge games against Napoli and Ajax also mouthwatering at this stage.

Van Bronckhorst will already be preparing, but all we can do is sit and wait, imagining what the atmosphere is going to be like on those three Ibrox nights in particular.

This is what we have been waiting years for and have battled so hard for through all of the tiers in Scotland, with Rangers well and truly back on the European radar after all of our hard work in the Europa League.

We deserve this more than anyone, and now it is time to go out there and make it worthwhile.
