Rocky Bushiri should have seen red in 2-2 draw v Rangers – Neil McCann

Neil McCann believed that Hibernian centre-back Rocky Bushiri should’ve seen a red card for his foul which led to Rangers taking the lead in the Scottish Premiership encounter.

The 22-year-old committed a foul on striker Antonio Colak in the 44th minute which led the referee to give a penalty to the visitors which was converted by captain James Tavernier.

McCann, on a BBC live blog, stated that the Bushiri committed a “mental” foul and he should’ve been seen a red card – Willie Collum decided against and then handed out two to Alfredo Morelos and John Lundstram.

“If Bushiri has pulled him by the shirt, he’s denying a goal-scoring opportunity?” he said.

“That’s a red card, no? Have I got that wrong? I’m not sure. That is mental from Bushiri. Crazy decision.

Not too impressive

Rangers came into the match hoping for an easier outing than the one they’ve had which would not please manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, considering there is an important match coming up in a few days.

The last thing the Gers would’ve wanted at this stage was to hand the advantage to rivals Celtic and that is exactly what happened by dropping two points.

Even though Rangers will feel hard done by, especially after the first-half incident which led to the team taking a lead but even then there is no reason to justify this kind of performance in an apparently winnable contest.

It is now Van Bronckhorst’s duty to turn things quickly around and make the players focus once again on the PSV clash where another defeat will turn the mood at the Ibrox Stadium upside down where so much was expected of the team who finished as the runners up in the previous campaign in the Europa League.
