Andy Walker destroys Tom Lawrence after wasteful attacking for Rangers v Hibernian

Andy Walker was far from pleased with Rangers winger Tom Lawrence after his first-half display against Hibernian on Saturday afternoon at Easter Road.

The Welsh international wasted the perfect counter-attacking opportunity with a shocking pass, one which left Ryan Kent in “disgust” it was noticed.

Walker labelled it a real waste as the Bears struggled to create any clear-cut chances yet again in the opening stages of a game, with James Tavernier coming to the rescue from the spot before half-time.

Speaking live on Sky Sports’ coverage of the clash [20 August, 01:03 pm], Walker was far from pleased with what he saw from the winger, just as his teammates were.

“What a waste from Lawrence,” he moaned.

“It was three v three, Ryan kent at this near side turned away in disgust, really poor.”

Rangers

Shocker.

Unfortunately for Lawrence, and for us watching, this wasn’t the only wasted opportunity.

Lawrence and Kent between them could have easily found the back of the net numerous times, only to either somehow not shoot, or smash it helplessly wide when it was harder to do that.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was far from pleased watching on from the dugout, and it is clear to see why as the game could have been put to bed with ease early on.

Instead, we failed to even have a shot on target somehow until the penalty, with numerous clear-cut chances wasted.

You can’t do this in much bigger games, especially the one coming up with PSV Eindhoven that springs to mind immediately in midweek over in Holland.

If this was meant to keep the cogs ticking ahead of that Champions League showdown, this first-half evidence does not show that one bit, and we need to improve.
