Rangers open to £5m bid for Darius Olaru with Steaua Bucharest to resume talks on Friday
Rangers are reportedly open to making a £5million bid for Steaua Bucharest midfielder Darius Olaru with the club to resume talks this week.
According to Romanian media outlet Pro Sport, Gers were interested in signing the 24-year-old at the start of the window and are not yet giving up their quest to sign him.
However, until they do not secure qualification to the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage, owner Gigi Becali rules out any sale.

When asked about the £5million interest, he said, “Who wants to give this money? Rangers?
“I am not discussing Olaru now. An offer may also come today from Real Madrid, from Barcelona and offer me anything. I don’t argue. Olaru is not for sale now.
“From Friday we resume the discussions, let’s see how we will be then. But for now, no one is leaving, no one is coming.”
Snap him up
Rangers are one win away from qualifying for the Champions League and even if they fail to do so, they will be in the Europa League.
There’s no justification as to why Olaru would want to stay in Romania when he can move to the United Kingdom and play for one of the biggest clubs in the land.
Gers would certainly be content if they sign another midfielder as the squad does appear a bit thin in that department.
They have been looking for an attacking midfielder and while they’ve signed the likes of Malik Tillman and Tom Lawrence, signing the Romania international would be an important acquisition.
For starters, unlike Lawrence, he is a midfielder and he can also play the holding role if anyone is injured.
His versatility gives Giovanni van Bronckhorst a man on the right wing as well and it’s a no brainer to sign him at the price that’s being mentioned.
In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
