Barry Ferguson wants to see commitment from Rangers winger Ryan Kent
Barry Ferguson has suggested that he wants to see a commitment from Rangers winger Ryan Kent.
The former Gers icon has hailed Kent as a “match winner”, and a “fantastic” player but he is worried over his contract situation at the club.
Kent has only a year left on his present deal, and he is yet to sign a new contract extension.

Ferguson also feels that Kent should be scoring more goals, and improving his output.
“Kent was good (vs PSV). I am a big fan of Ryan Kent. I think when he is on it, he is a match winner, similar to Jota,” Ferguson said on Go Radio (17 August).
“But his contract is up at the end of the season. I need to see a bit of commitment.
“Whether they are waiting until this game in Eindhoven to see if Rangers do progress or not (I don’t know), but if Rangers do win and want to challenge for things they have to keep a player like Kent. I’m just greedy.
“I want a better end product. There is no doubt he has got fantastic ability, but I am looking to see more goals. As a wide player I would be looking at 10-12 goals a season. He is a player who I think highly of.
“It’ll be interesting to see if Kent, and Morelos, commit themselves. You are getting down to the nitty gritty now. I want to see commitment. If you lose two players of that quality it’s a big hit for Rangers.”
Priority
Rangers have done well this summer to hand contracts to key players.
The likes of Connor Goldson, Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and James Tavernier have all signed new deals at the club.
It remains to be seen whether Kent and Morelos follow them into signing new deals at the club.
Rangers have added depth in their forward areas but losing both Kent and Morelos would be a huge blow for the club. Probably, the club will decide what to do with them after the second leg in Holland.

If Rangers qualify for the Champions League, they would be in a very good position to persuade them into signing new deals. Having said that, it was surprising to see Morelos wasn’t used in the previous game.
Is Van Bronckhorst keeping him fit for the return leg? Or is the Dutchman not happy with the player’s fitness?
Antonio Colak has done well so far, but Morelos and Kent are proven match winners. Let’s hope they will commit to their futures and sign their deals quickly.
