Rangers player ratings for PSV Eindhoven showdown in Champions League
Rangers welcomed PSV Eindhoven to Ibrox on Tuesday evening [16 August] for the first-leg of their Champions League qualifier showdown, which finished in a 2-2 draw.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst rang the changes with four being made in total, as the likes of Ryan Kent came back into the side after his injury break.
Ibrahim Sangare did open the scoring for the away side, but Antonio Colak responded instantly and then Tom Lawrence fired in what we may suggest was lucky. The equaliser then came from a sloppy set piece.

Ibrox News rated the players out of 10 below…
Jon McLaughlin – 6
The keeper had no big saves to make, but his distribution could have been so much better at times without making any nervy errors as he has previously.
James Tavernier – 4
It was a strange evening for the skipper who at times endured a nightmare against Cody Gakpo, and for once his work in possession was not good enough – one example being when he strangely went to volley a ball across the box but smashed it nearly 40 yards.
Connor Goldson – 6
A real battle with Luuk De Jong, and one that he won, frustrating the big man. The defender could have stepped forward to meet the charging wingers of the away side and he was punished when being beaten in the air for the second goal.

James Sands – 8
The American is really starting to settle into this new defensive role, with his midfield distribution clear at times despite pressure being mounted. Despite one lapse of concentration, on the whole, he was solid and is starting to cement his spot in this side.
Borna Barisic – 6
Quiet. The Croatian international simply can’t get back to his best and has shown no consistency ever since his horror night at Celtic last season – something needs to change quickly with Ridvan Yilmaz waiting.
Steven Davis – 7
Van Bronckhorst finally turned to his senior man in midfield and he wasn’t let down, with Davies dominating defensively and spreading the ball with ease, he simply has to stay in the side.
John Lundstram – 6
Gave away possession way too much. We are used to Lundstram being everywhere, but it was Sangare that was the physical option in the middle of the park this evening at times – this may only sound negative due to the very, very high standards he has set previously.

Malik Tillman – 8
The only thing stopping him from going higher was that end product. The American has a sensational touch and always looks so silky, but that final pass or shot just wasn’t there, but when that comes, he will be unstoppable – mark our words.
Ryan Kent – 6
It was a real battle for the winger on his return from injury, and it saw both him and his opposite number taste success at different periods. Just having him on the pitch gives everyone a huge boost and makes teams sit back a little more.
Tom Lawrence – 7
The Welshman is known for his attacking work, but it was his attitude defensively that caught our eye, making numerous big tackles throughout and helping Tavernier with Gakpo. Hopefully, his very fortunate free kick can spark something special going forward.
Antonio Colak – 7
It doesn’t matter what you do in games, as long as you continue to find the back of the net. That is exactly what Colak is doing right now, and despite doing very little, he pops up with massive goals, long may it continue.
