Rangers ‘surprised’ by latest Fashion Sakala transfer story

Rangers are not in contact with Burnley to sell Fashion Sakala, as per Fraser Fletcher.

The journalist, who has previously worked for BBC, reported on Twitter on 10 August that the Gers have received no offers from Burnley for Sakala. In fact, the club has been left “surprised” by the transfer story that surfaced on Wednesday.

Scottish Daily Express reported on 10 August that Burnley are getting ready to bid £3 million for Sakala who is facing a major uncertainty surrounding his future.

Rangers Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Unlikely

The report from Scottish Daily Express suggested that Sakala is getting frustrated at Ibrox.

First of all, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has used him as a wide player mostly instead of a striker, but he could drop further down the pecking order following new arrivals at the club.

Sakala joined the Bears on a free transfer from Oostende last summer, and managed 12 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

He has got raw pace and adds a new dimension to the side. However, he didn’t start enough games last games, but has shown his quality at times.

Rangers

Last season, during a game against Motherwell, Neil McCann hailed Sakala (23 April) on BBC Sport that he was “brilliant” and “sublime”.

Van Bronckhorst needs depth in his squad as Rangers will be fighting for honours in every domestic competition, and Sakala will get his opportunities to impress.

At the same time, he needs to work really hard to cement his place on the side.

Jonny McFarlane of Rangers Review has suggested on Twitter on 10 August that “things can change” over course of a season, but at the moment, he is not going anywhere.

In other Rangers news, van Bronckhorst could look to change his system soon to get the most out of two key men at Auchenhowie.
