Ryan Kent starts as Athletic journalist predicts Rangers XI v USG in Champions League qualifier
Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell has surprisingly included Ryan Kent in the Rangers starting XI to take on USG in the Champions League qualifier on Tuesday.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst ruled him fit and many expected him to be named on the bench as it was his first game back.
A player who returned over the weekend was Alfredo Morelos, but Campbell believes that he’ll be seen as more of an impact sub with Antonio Colak starting.
Via Twitter, he wrote, “Been thinking about the team I’d like to see GvB go with tonight.
“A fast start is imperative and, to repeat what they did last season, there is a case for going with players who know what that takes.
“Kent from the start but Morelos, who has been out longer, as impact sub?”
Right call?
While Kent is one of the first names on the team sheets, we do not think van Bronckhorst will be risking him from the start.
If at half-time, he feels that he needs an X-factor player then there’s a good chance that he throws on the English attacker.
Regarding Morelos, we think this is the perfect game for him to start.
When the chips are down, the Colombian is the one who guarantees goals and even though Colak’s not done too bad, he knows that when Morelos is fit, he’s going to be starting.
We’re all eagerly awaiting the team news for this one and we’re hoping that El Buffalo is named in the eleven.
In terms of the backline, that’s precisely the five that we would’ve gone with and we still think GvB may change a thing or two in midfield.
In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
