Simon Jordan issues harsh Rangers warning amid SPFL title race with Celtic

Simon Jordan has issued a harsh warning to Rangers ahead of the second of their Champions League qualifier against USG.

He believes that they cannot afford to not qualify for the continent’s elite competition and urges them to overcome the deficit at Ibrox on Tuesday.

Celtic have already qualified for the Champions League and have the multi-million windfall in the bag which comes with being in the group stages.

Jordan said live on talkSPORT, “You’ve got to deal with this game and come through this because you won’t, necessarily, have another opportunity. Well, you won’t get another opportunity, you’ll waste a £30-40million opportunity and give it to Celtic.”

Cannot afford it

Rangers cannot afford not to overcome the deficit and make it to the next round of the qualifiers.

They deserve to be on the same footing financially as Celtic if they are to usurp them to the title this season.

While they have made some really good signings, the rebuild is far from finished and most of the money spent has been generated from player sales.

Objectively, this side looks no better than the one that lost out to their local rivals last season.

The new signings still have to bed in completely and there are no guarantees that they’re going to be consistent for the entire nine months.

Added revenue brings in more players and undoubtedly better ones as they will be given the chance to play Champions League football.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
