Predicted Rangers XI v USG: Alfredo Morelos returns
Rangers will be looking to overcome a two-goal deficit when they face USG in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League qualifying clash.
Few expected them to lose 2-0 in the first leg, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst will now know what’s expected from his side.
Slowly but surely, he is seeing most of his players returning to full fitness and one player who’s back for this one is Ryan Kent.
While he usually walks into the eleven, he’s not going to be starting the game and he will be coming off the bench in the second half.
Via the Record, van Bronckhorst said, “Ryan Kent is in the squad, as is Fashion Jnr. Ryan, we will assess tomorrow and see his fitness level if he can get minutes.
“(Alfredo) Morelos is progressing well after getting minutes at the weekend. He has been a little bit longer with us training and also had his first minutes for the season on Saturday so he’s there to take part in the game. If it’s from the start, we also have to assess him tomorrow.”
We expect John McLaughlin, with a back four of James Tavernier, Conor Goldson, James Sands and Borna Barisic ahead of him.
Ridvan Yilmaz started at the weekend, but struggled to adapt and may not be worth the risk for this one.
In midfield, we expect Steven Davis and Ryan Jack to anchor the ship with Tom Lawrence given the free reign to venture forward.
Rabbi Matondo and Mallik Tillman will look to flank the number nine while Alfredo Morelos will return to make his first start of the season.
